This fall, the University Network for Asian Studies, coordinated by University of Turku, celebrates its 25th anniversary as a developer and provider of high-quality online education. The multidisciplinary courses of the network have laid the foundation for strengthening Finland’s knowledge of Asia.

Nearly a thousand students have completed a 25-credit minor in Asian Studies. Students come from almost all fields of science, because students understand that knowledge of Asia is an important strength in working life. This academic year, the network offers more than 20 courses on Asia, ranging from basic to advanced studies, covering topics from politics to films.

Currently, the network is focusing on strengthening knowledge of South Asia, as it is important for students to understand the developments in this region with India rising to the center of the global economy and politics. In the autumn semester, the course offering includes a new course, “South Asia: Regional Dynamics and External Powers,” which has been developed in collaboration with South Asia experts from the University of Tartu.

The application period for autumn courses begins on August 19th and continues until September 15th. You can explore the courses here: https://www.asianet.fi/2024/06/04/autumn-courses-2024-on-asianet/
